Recently, we learned more news about Toyota’s bZ series of new cars from relevant channels. It is reported that many models including bZ4X are jointly developed with Subaru and Daihatsu, and bZ Small Crossover will be the last model to be launched among these five models.
Although Toyota has set a clear goal of launching 30 electric vehicles globally by 2030, not all will be developed by Toyota. Based on the characteristics and markets of their respective models, it was decided to jointly develop with alliance manufacturers. In addition to Toyota's self-developed electric vehicles, medium-sized and large-sized electric vehicles will be cooperated with Subaru and Daihatsu, and small-sized electric vehicles will be cooperated with Daihatsu.
As the first model of the bZ series, Toyota bZ4X was jointly developed with Subaru's sotera, using the same platform and almost the same body. The design and configuration around the front of the car give full play to the characteristics of each manufacturer. However, unlike the previously jointly developed GR 86/BZR, the new car will be produced by Toyota. In addition, bZ4X and the Lexus RZ, scheduled to be launched in 2022, also use a common platform.
As the electric successor of C-HR, this bZ compact SUV has not yet released more information. At present, it is only known that the new car is expected to be launched in late 2022 or 2023. Year debut.
The bZ SDN is likely to be a model that replaces the Prius, but there is also news that the car will be sold under the same roof as the Prius. In addition, since the size of the new car corresponds to the Subaru Impreza, the new car may be launched as a Subaru brand model with a four-wheel drive system.
The bZ Large SUV is expected to be jointly developed with Subaru. As a Toyota bZ model, the new car will be mainly FF (front-wheel drive) models; in the North American and Chinese markets, the new car will most likely become the successor to the Subaru Outback and be equipped with a four-wheel drive system.
bZ Small Crossover is a model jointly developed with Daihatsu and adopts the design concept of Aygo Cross. It is reported that although this new car will be realized soon, due to cost reasons, it is expected to be the last model to be sold.
